Killaloe Pink Ribbon Walk
The Inaugural Killaoe Pink Ribbon Walk was held on June 19th 2010 in the beautiful villages of Killaloe/ Ballina, Co. Clare. This very special day was one of fun, friendship and fitness whilst providing much needed funds for a hugely worthwhile cause. Thank you for walking with us, and supporting the work of Action Breast Cancer, a part of the Irish Cancer Society. The Walk on the Lough - The Route
We invite you to come and take part in the day in whatever way you choose. We will be delighted to see people taking a leisurely stroll and enjoying the spectacular scenery. Equally, the more fit amongst us are welcome to run the course and then cheer in the walkers while enjoying the famous lakeside hospitality. The walk will commence at 2.30pm and our starting point will be the famous Lakeside Hotel in Ballina, Co Tipperary. (see route map link below). From here, the route will take participants through the picturesque village of Ballina and across the famous Killaloe bridge. Walkers will then turn left and follow the road past the beautiful 13th Century St Flannan's Cathedral. Just past St Flannan's, we will be turning right and head up towards Convent Hill continuing up the Crossroads. At Creeveroe, the route continues straight towards Killestry then takes the right fork in the road heading towards the beautiful Garraunboy Church. Continuing straight at the Church, walkers will then turn right down the Hill Road taking in the beautiful scenery of the lake. The route then continues down the main street of old Killaloe town, before turning left and heading back over the bridge and finishing back at the Lakeside Hotel. View Killaloe Pink Ribbon Walk Route Map in a larger map The course takes place entirely on sealed main and country roads. The expected time to complete the walk will be about 2.5 hours, and will suit walkers with an average level of fitness. There will be plenty of water stops along the route.
